The health facilities that were initially established by the Turkish Transplantation and Burn Treatment Foundation in 1982 have developed into a diagnosis and treatment center fully equipped with 295 beds, of which 65 are critical care (Transplantation, Brain Surgery, Genera Surgery, Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Surgery, Coronary, Pediatrics, and Newborn), and modern laboratories, imaging units, and operating theaters carrying the latest technology.
The 9 operating theaters are in service 24 hours a day. In addition, a surgical unit is also available for outpatients who require surgical procedures, without being admitted to hospital. This unit is supported by a 4 bed observation room.
Dialysis services which is founded with Başkent University, increased to 14 new centers all over the country.
Our hospital is considered a reference center in the fields of liver, kidney, heart and cornea transplants, burn treatment, and bone marrow transplants in our Adana Practice and Research Center. It is necessary to highlight that organ transplantation is also performed at our Teaching and Research Centers in Istanbul, Konya, and Adana.
Ours is the first foundation hospital in that performed an organ transplant, living-donor liver transplant, and deceased-donor liver transplant. Additionally, our center is renowned for its Departments of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dentistry, Endocrinology, Ophthalmology, General Surgery, Cardiology, Cardio Vascular Surgery, Nephrology, Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, and Otorhinolaryngology.
Our hospital, with its staff of 1,849, made up of 474 doctors, 640 medical personnel, and 735 administrative personnel, offers a high-class service to all its patients.
Our Imaging Center is equipped with 2 1.5 Tesla 18 channel magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), 2 (4- and 16-slice) multidetector spiral computed tomography (CT) scanners, 1 digital scope, 2 digital C-arm (large focus) scopes, 8 ultrasound and Doppler machines, 2 x-rays, 3 mobile x-ray machines, 1 digital mammography and tomosynthesis machine, and 1 bone densitometer, in addition to the PACS system which allows for the storage and communication of the images and also Siemens artis Zee Biplon coronary angiography integrated IVUS (inside vessel USG) and FFR measurement systems.

Quality improvement efforts at Baskent University Hospitals and Practice and Research Centers have been ongoing since 1997. In addition to being certified by the Turkish Standards Institute, at all of our facilities, we were the first Foundation Hospital to receive ISO Quality Certification, and we continue to implement the requirements of the ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System Standard to date. Furthermore, the average numbers of international publications of our teaching staff are amongst the highest in the country. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Haberal, is the rector with the highest number of scientific publications, with 1428 scientific publications (of which 785 are international). Our hospital emblem, in line with our pursuit of academic excellence, portrays the accumulation and dispersion of knowledge.
Efforts are ongoing to meet the regulations of the JCI Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and the Private Hospital Service Quality Standards, developed by the Ministry of Health for the inspection of all private hospitals, and in which all of the Baskent University institutions were scored. Each one of our hospitals were placed in the A class (except for Izmir Zubeyde Hanim Practice and Research Center, due to capacity), and Istanbul Practice and Research Center received first place amongst all private hospitals in Turkey.
